Cheshire and Wirral Partnership (CWP) NHS Foundation Trust operates across 95 sites with over 4,000 staff and more than 15,000 Foundation Trust members. Previously, the trust ran a “Swap Shop” managed by a single person – a system that simply couldn’t scale to meet the needs of such a large, distributed organisation.
CWP replaced their manual Swap Shop with Warp-It, immediately gaining the scalability needed to serve 95 sites. The platform enabled self-service item listing and claiming, removing the bottleneck of having a single person manage all exchanges.
The trust expanded beyond internal reuse to form partnerships with Chester University, local charities, and even AstraZeneca, creating a broader network for redistributing surplus items.
“Organizations are learning how important it is to get maximum value from resources.”
Andy Styring, Director of Operations, CWP NHS Foundation Trust
The results were immediate and dramatic: over £15,000 saved in the first 8 weeks, with ongoing savings of approximately £5,000 per month. The trust also achieved a CO2 reduction of 2,980 kg.
By expanding their network to include external partners like Chester University, charities, and AstraZeneca, CWP demonstrated how NHS trusts can multiply their impact through collaborative reuse across organisational boundaries.
